The Countdown is On!!
President and Sister Clark are anxiously making preparations to arrive in Alaska on June 28th. We have moved out of our home, and are officially living out of suitcases. (just a taste of things to come!) We are enjoying weekly visits to the MTC, where we meet with our Preach My Gospel tutor, Brother Dan Ware. Brother Ware served in Alaska as a missionary 10 years ago, and has a grasp on Alaska geography. He has helped us to create an itinerary for our first week in Alaska. We are very excited to embark on our first mission tour. Our goal is to have an opportunity to meet with all seven zones in the first week. It is an ambitious undertaking, but we are determined to do it! As we go about our business, we are meeting many people with ties to the Alaska Anchorage Mission. Someone in the Tabernacle Choir has a nephew in the mission. So does a man who works in the Nordstrom shoe department. A member of our daughter's ward in Virginia has a friend whose son is serving as a missionary. We went to hear one of our son's mission friends speak in church upon his return. A member of the stake presidency there in Monroe, Utah has a missionary son in Alaska. Sister Williams, a missionary who is planning to return to the mission after recovering from surgery, called me for a nice chat. All of these little connections (and many more) are getting us so very anxious to meet everyone in person. The clock is ticking, and the days are fast approaching. I think this just might really happen!
